Today’s Walk-about

Woke up to pouring rain today but I am not the kind of girl to be put off by a bit of rain, not where a walk is concerned anyway.

Today the plan was to walk from Narborough to Cockleycley visit the pub for refreshments then walk back again.

By the time we set off the rain had stopped, but it was still an extremely muddy walk, especially round the pig farm.

Think we may have had too many refreshments at the pub because even with a Compass, Map and GPS we managed to almost get lost on the way back :-)  I think we were too busy watching the pigs. 🙂

The information from my pedometer was…..

13 miles

27,767 steps

1,498 cals

Wellington Boots and Croc’s

Right hands up who owns a pair of Wellington Boots and I don’t just mean the ordinary plain green ones.

I love nice bright colours, they  make me feel happy, while dull and dark make me feel miserable, infact its amazing how colours can effect my mood.

For months I lusted after a pair of pink Hunter Boots, but never found any I could afford.

I finally fell in love with a great pair of Wellington boots all green and flowery, trouble is no one wants to be seen with me when I wear them  🙂

I am now also the proud owner of a pair of bright Purple Croc’s, a gift from Dubai.

Heart Rate Monitors…Good or Bad ?

I dug my Heart Rate Monitor out the cupboard today.

I originally brought it to keep my heart rate in the fat burning Zone, but I then read far too many articles about them, all with conflicting advise , so I kind of lost the plot a bit.

In the end I just worked out as hard as I could and thought that had to be doing me some good.

Today I jogged for 40 min’s rather than 25, my heart rate started off at 168 then leveled off at between 145 /150 returning to 160 towards the end of my jog,not too bad if you look here. ( age 45 )

when I stopped jogging it dropped to blow 100 in less than a min.

To find my working and fat burning zones I need to know my resting heart rate, which I will take in the morning when I first wake up, before getting out of bed.

Hope fully over the next few weeks we will see how my working heart rate changes, and my resting heart rate gets lower.

My First Time

On Saturday I went to my first Rugby Match.

At Cambridge RUFC, where Cambridge was playing Manchester in a National league 2 game.

Cambridge was playing in their Blood and Sand Club colours.

It all started with a superb lunch for over 220 people ,it was a nice warm sunny day, with perfect pitch conditions too.

Then a very exciting game followed where it looked for a while that Cambridge may get beaten, but they fought back hard and was rewarded with a win .

So final score was Cambridge 28 v 27 Manchester.

Thanks to Philip who organized the Table for lunch and like he says the Company was excellent and I had a great time.

Sandringham Estate have their say.

If you have been reading my blog ,you will know that I am disappointed not to be able to walk the last bit of Coast from Snettisham to Kings Lynn.

I wrote to the Sandringham Estate to ask why there was no permissive path along side or on the coastal defence .

Here is the reply I received:-
“The Norfolk County Council have been,on behalf of the Ramblers Association, trying to negotiate a path connecting Kings Lynn to Hunstanton. The Sandringham Estate has in the past indicated that they would be prepared to consider such a path. However , following consultations with the English Nature ( now Natural England) and the RSPB they both objected to such a proposal as it would potentially disturb the habitat on the marshes.

The County Council has looked at creating an inland diversion and the Estate had in principle agreed to a permissive path from Castle Rising through to Dersingham linking back to Snettisham. The Estate was prepared to offer a permissive path nearly three miles long to help with this proposal but unfortunately the County Council were unable to negotiate the connection off the Estate.”

Personally I don’t see how a few walkers would disturb the birds when there are hundreds of Twitcher’s out there, every Sunday and I wonder why the Council was not able to negotiate the connection off the Estate.

Having a path go inland would be a shame, especially when there is so much open space along by the sea defence wall .

I will write another letter and see what excuses the Council come up with for not negotiating the connection off the Estate.

Anyone for a Muffin ??

I went mad  today and  baked a mountain of muffins, well 24 in total , Double Chocolate and Banana and Nut.

My Kitchen smells Great , but they keep calling me to come and eat them and I must not give in to temptation.

Good job Geoff likes them between him and my boys they will soon be gone out my way.

I must not give into temptation……I must not give into temptation…..

Water v Alcohol

My New Years Resolution was to drink more water.

I Drink no where near the recommended 2 litres a day.

Did you watch the program with Lisa Tarbuck in, ‘the truth about food’ they did an experiment with identical twins, and proved that if you eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruit and veg, that you didnt need to drink 2ltrs a day. it can be seen here

Then today I received this information and wonder if I really want to drink more water 🙂

WATER
It has been scientifically proven that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, at the end of the year we will have absorbed more than 1kilo of E coli bacteria found in faeces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop! However, we do not run that risk when drinking Wine (or rum, whiskey, vodka, beer or other liquors) because alcohol has to go through a distillation process of boiling, filtering and fermenting and also alcohol kills the Escherichia coli bacteria.
So …
Water = Poop
Alcohol = Health
It is better to drink wine and talk sh^t than to drink water and be full of sh^t. There is no need to thank me for this valuable information; I am doing it as a public service.

Found another good blog today

Jogging again !!

After months of not Jogging I seem to be catching the bug again.

Have been out 3 times since Saturday and it certainly makes me feel good.

Only doing a 2 mile circuit from home and its taking me about 23 min’s so not very fast, but I am not doing it for the speed. I do it because its the best form of relaxation I know.

I think the reason I stopped going was that my boys started coming with me and it stopped being relaxing, also I tried to keep up with them which was an impossible task, so I pushed myself too hard and started getting some little aches and pains.

So now I keep sneaking out the house with out them. 🙂

As I am only 6 lb from my target weight at slimming world I am sure this will help me on my way too, BUT I did eat 2 hot cross buns today which wasn’t good, but they were delicious
