Bits and Bobs

A few photo’s from my week-end away…  did not take that many was too busy trying to keep up with Geoff  🙂

Update on my heel… had it dressed by the Nurse today with a special iodine dressing, she says its healing well, she must have got the idea I was off walking again because she told me not to put my boots on this week-end just walk in trainers…..

Managed to catch up with all my Blog reading , just wish I could get co-comment to work, I leave so many comments I forget where I have been…..

Spent the afternoon baking muffins for my boys…none for Geoff and I as we are watching our weight again, an on going battle, but I did make us a Vegetable Quiche with out the pastry, very healthy !!!

Will be packing my bags again tonight ready to escape to Cambridge tomorrow…..

Four Great Walks….

We left Lorraine’s house on Saturday morning and traveled to Rockingham.

Where we met with 4 friends and walked 16 miles, taking in some of the Jurassic way.

Geoff and I then traveled up to Hope in Derbyshire, using the Tom Tom GPS in the car , I was well impressed !!

After a great meal and a good nights sleep at The cheddar cheese pub we woke to a misty but dry morning.

After a full English breakfast , we set off on our walk, known in the area as the Edale Skyline.

We started off up Win Hill, over Kinder Scout, up Mam Tor and Lose Hill before dropping back down into Hope….. it was very very boggy on top of Kinder and also very very windy too.

Was very pleased with my fitness but very upset because I got a couple of blisters and some hot spots too.

After another great meal and good sleep , We woke to glorious sunshine so after another full English breakfast. We set off along the river into Castleton, we went up by the side of the castle and walked along The limestone way .

we then cut off towards Bradwell and Brough before following the River back into hope.

That evening we traveled back to Cambridge, feeling rather fit but tired.

Not being able to resist another walk, although I really should have as the blister on my heel was really sore.

We drove into Newmarket , where we walked along the Devils dyke into woodditton. in glorious sunshine once again.

we made our way back to Newmarket through the villages and footpaths, a really nice pretty walk.

Welcome….

I would like to say a big Hello to James Higham hope you visit often 🙂

Should also say hello to Newmania I go to his blog for a laugh…

“One day, a man came home and was greeted by his wife dressed in a very sexy
nightie. “Tie me up,” she purred, “and you can do anything you want.”
So he tied her up and wrote his blog”

 this also came from him…

“This is unbelievable and you have to try it. ! Put the mobile number of your wife or husband ,for example ,into the site and you can locate the actual place the phone is located ..usually this will be where they are of course. Its incredibly quick. Just put the country, the first four digits in the first box and the rest in the second box. The satellite gets there in about twenty seconds. I `m not sure if its legal or what system it is working off so do it quickly .
I was amazed to see where my wife was and I bet there will be a few surprise .”

but there is a lot of serious stuff too….

If your good boys I will add you to my Blog Roll……

60 miles….

60 miles is what I walked in four days , it all went well , glad to say I am fitter than I expected , no aches or pains…..

BUT

what let me down was my feet, never had problems before but his time I got blisters, maybe because my boots were not tied tight enough for the hills… who knows, but I will certainly have to review my foot wear….

I was very upset about getting sore feet but like Geoff says better to have the problem now, when I have time to sort it.

Home now for a few days… time to catch up with my Blogs …give Geoff a rest :-)… and feed my boys up again.

Will post walk routes tomorrow….

Out and About….

Well that’s me finished work for a whole week….. no fish to look at and no coming home smelling like a kipper.

My boots are cleaned my bag almost packed, soon be off to Cambridge then to Huntington to stay with a friend over night ,before going to Rockingham to walk with friends, all met Via the RA Forum…. see it does work !!

Then we’re off to Hope in Derbyshire for 2 nights and I will see my first hills for months and months… cannot tell you how excited I am.

Wonder how I will cope with no Internet access for a few days..  🙂

Now I must cook a nice dinner for my Boys.

Hope you all have a good week-end and I will see you back here soon.

Memories….

All this talk about hills, got me looking at my photo’s, some I have not looked at for years…  came across some which had been taken when I went up Tryfan…..  made it on a 3rd attempt after being beaten by bad weather the first 2 times.

I was not brave enough to jump Adam and Eve, it was very very windy and they are very very high…..and that’s my excuse!!

When I work out how to use my scanner I will add some more Photo’s  as I have also done Moel Siabod, Moel Hebog, Cnicht, and Snowdon many times.
