Like most people, after Christmas I always have a few extra Lbs I need to loose.
Not helped, this year by my week in Les Gets and all those Vin Chaud’s to keep me warm on the slopes.
I didn’t feel I needed to go back to slimming world, as I was in the right frame of mind to do it on my own.
So I decided I would go back to an old favorite of mine, who just happened to have a new book out.![]()
For almost a week now I have been following Rosemary Conley’s GI Hip and Thigh Diet its been easy and I have lost 2lb so far.
Her book has become my bible it goes everywhere with me.
It has 4 weeks of set daily menus if you want to follow them or sections on breakfast, lunch and dinners if you want to make your own daily menus.
It also has some great recipes to help you along.
One of my favorite recipes so far has been the Potato and Broccoli soup:-
1 red onion
115g of potato chopped
2 gloves of garlic
1.2 liters of veg stock
225g Broccoli
Place onion, potato and garlic in a saucepan pour in the vegetable stock bring to boil then simmer till potatoes are cooked.
Add Broccoli and cook till tender blend till smooth , season before serving.
This is enough for 4 servings…. but Matthew liked it so much he almost polished it all off in one go.
The book cost ΓΒ£3.49 from amazon , money well spent I think.

Tonight I finally got round to watching the film “Tell No One”. ![]()
Its a french film with subtitles and based on the book by Harlan Coben.
I had really enjoyed reading the book and hoped the film would be just as good.
I was not disappointed the film was fantastic and I soon forgot about the subtitles.
The plot summery :-
“Eight years ago, Margot Beck was murdered by a serial killer. Though the killer has confessed to eight of these murders, he has always denied to be responsible for Margot’s death. However, the specific mutilations found on her body seem to remove all doubts over his guilt. Today, Alexandre Beck, her husband, is still deeply psychologically injured by the loss of Margot. He temporarily escapes his memories during the day by immersing himself completely in his work as a pediatrician. Outside of that, only the friendship he has formed with HΓΒ©lΓΒ¨ne Perkins saves him from total isolation from the rest of the world. But when two new bodies are uncovered near where Margot’s body was discovered, Margot’s case is reopened. At the same time, Alexandre receives a strange e-mail with a link to a video-surveillance web-cam and a time at which to watch it.”
Cannot wait to watch it again with Geoff….

Many years ago I used to read and read… all romantic rubbish books but they were my escape from the real world and I loved them.
Then there was a time when I could not read at all as by the time I got to the end of the page I had forgotten what I had read at the beginning of that page. A very frustrating time.
I am sure that must say something about me and how I felt during that period of my life …maybe Emily could tell me her theory, as she is so into psychology.
A year or so ago I decided I wanted to start reading again, but all the books I tried just didn’t interest me then I realized maybe my tastes had changed.
A friend recommended I tried a thriller by Greg ILes called sleep no more, and I loved it,the suspense of not knowing what was going to happen kept me interested and kept me turning the pages.
My love of thriller books has gone on from there I especially liked Tell No One by Harlan Coben, infact my boys got me the film for Christmas as I had been disappointed to miss it at the cinema.
I have yet to watch the film so cannot comment on wether its as good as the book.
At the moment I am reading Land of the Living by Nicci French and enjoying it very much I just hope I wont be disappointed with the ending , like I was with the last of her books that I read.
Once I find an author I like I usually tend to read a few of their books until I get bored with them or someone else recommends something new to me.
I just wish I could read faster……
So what are you reading at the moment and what would you recommend ?????
