15 days till I get out to Lima and find out which hat is mine 🙂

Change of routine..

This Sunday instead of meeting up with my usual walking group in Cambridge, I drove out to Royston to meet up with the Newmarket Ramblers.

Thanks to my tom tom I found my way there easily.royston 003

The reason for doing this was to meet up with a very dear friend.

Tess and I met maybe 4 years ago through the Ramblers forum and still mange to meet up now for the occasional walk.

The 10 mile walk was in beautiful rolling countryside, through wonderful country lanes On the hottest day of the year so far 🙂

Glad to say this time I had remembered my sun cream 🙂

Once back In Cambridge I got myself down to the River to have a very welcome swim to cool myself down.

Only 2 more week-ends now before I go off to meet up with Geoff,  and I plan to walk 15 miles on both these Sundays 🙂

Reaching my Goals…

Less than 4 weeks now till I go off to meet Geoff in Lima, to say I am getting excited is an understatement 🙂

I have had my ups and downs but then that’s quite normal I suppose and as someone pointed out to me… Its only human to miss your Boyfriend.

This is an update on the projects I set myself when Geoff went travelling.

Just back from a 44 min run…  the longest route I have done so far, I expected it to take me longer than 44 min’s which means I must be getting fitter.

Even if I just do it once I have to find a route that will take me about 60 min’s give or take a min or two.image

I have now lost 8 lb of the 10lb I wanted to lose and feel fantastic for doing so 🙂

As for Sex in the City well I am now on Disk 7 out of 18 and enjoying every second.

I have also watched some great films.. The chorus, The boy in the stripped pyjamas and Cheri, this weekend it will be The Kite Runner.

Sundays you will have found me out walking anything from 12 to 16 miles, and Mondays you will have found me at the pool doing my half a mile.

When it comes to reading and making cards I have failed miserably but I am not going to beat myself up over this 🙂

Oxfam walk..

Yesterday was the 42nd annual Cambridge Oxfam walk, this year held at Chilford Hall.

You could choose from several beautiful walks in the countryside ranging from 4 to 26 miles.

As I was walking with a friend not used to long distances we decided on the 12 mile route.chilford

We woke to the sound of pouring rain but luckily it soon stopped and during the day we only had one other downpour.

At Linton in the village Hall , we had tea and cakes..all cakes home made by villagers.

It was a very enjoyable walk in lovely countryside and we had a great day.

My friend did very well and I just hope her legs are not aching too much today 🙂

Next year I hope I will be able to do the longer Route with Geoff

Having a frothy time…

Thanks to a random remark on Twitter last week about an Aeroccino.image

I discovered a way to get one of these wonderful little machines with out having to go the whole hog and get the expensive coffee machine too.

It was delivered to my door during the week.

Where as some people enjoy a glass of wine in the evening I can now enjoy a real cappuccino at home.

Today I even found some chocolate sprinkle to finish it off just perfect.

Now I think I might have to buy a cow to supply the huge amount of milk we suddenly seem to be using.

30 days to go….

Today I had my appointment with the nurse,to get my injections for my Peru trip.

Hepatitis A and Typhoid in one arm

Diphtheria and Tetanus in the other arm.

Result two very heavy achy arms 🙁

I was also told to be very careful with the drinking water in Peru but as this had arrived in the post this morning

water filter

I don’t really need to worry at all 🙂

Newport to Thaxted.

On Sunday after a late night with friends wine and sauna 🙂 I was up early to meet up with the Cambridge Rambling club.thaxted 013

For all of 10 seconds I thought about just staying in bed but the promise of a 15 mile walk soon convinced me to get up.

I was so glad that I made the effort as not only did I get a great walk but it must have been the hottest day of the year so far.

I came home quite sun burnt and my sun cream is now in my  walking ruc-sac.

I also went straight out on Monday and got myself a pair of 3/4 length walking trousers as these will be much cooler for the warmer days , also good for Peru too.
