Final Batch of the year

Yesterday I made my last batch of Jam for this year.

The Damsons had been a gift from someone at work.

They have been sat in the freezer just waiting for me to find time for Jam making.

My friend was pleased with her Jar of Jam and I must say it is rather delicious.

Lets hope I have time to make some Scones tomorrow to go with the Jam.

Next I have to find time to bake the Christmas cake 🙂

Wet,Windy and Wild

That best describes our week-end in Brighton 🙂

Oh and lets not forget expensive 🙁

It was Great to see Emily though.

We also got a fab, if very wet walk over the South Downs and a very nice Sunday pub lunch so all was not bad

Disappointing BT Internet

Recently I changed Internet providers.

I changed for 2 reasons…

a) to save some money
b) for a better connection so I could stream BBC Iplayer.

I am disappointed to admit that I have failed miserably to achieve either.

Within a week I had used over my months download limit so had to upgrade my package.

No matter what time of day I try BBC Iplayer and ITV catch up they will not stream with out constantly having to re-load.

To keep my custom AOL offered me an unlimited package for 15 pounds a month.

If I had stayed with them at least I would have saved some money.

I also wonder if I would have been better off with  02 broadband  But I suspect my problems are more to do with where I live 🙁

New experience ..

Over the weekend Geoff and I went looking at houses, no not for us but for him 🙂

It was a totally new experience for me.

I have always had no choice about where I live or about the actual house, never even seeing the house till I arrive with the furniture van closely behind 🙁

Out of the 5 we looked at there was 2 we liked, one was more my style of house and the other was more Geoff’s style.

We looked at 2 amazing flats, I never actually believed people lived in these kind of flats, they had a very sterile feeling though and I felt they could never truly be a home , they felt more like hotel rooms:-(

The problem is trying to decide what to do.

The house which is more my style offers Geoff everything he needs for now and is so much cheaper.

The house that is Geoff’s style is beautiful ,although it could be a cold house and have car parking problems, it could be better longer term.

Will be interesting to see what happens over the coming weeks.

Autumn Walking

Today we did a 14 mile walk from Barley with the Cambridge Rambling Club.

Two weeks ago we walked 14 miles in torrential rain but today the weather was just perfect.

Blue skies and lots of sunshine made it one of the best autumn walking days.

The walk took us through many green lanes covered with fallen leaves.

All the winter wheat could be seen poking its head through the soil.

Only 5 weeks till the shortest day then spring will be on its way 🙂

These days I have trouble remembering telephone numbers, car registration numbers etc and always have to write them down.

Its a sign of getting old so I am told.

I was moaning about it this week after I took a number and forgot it with in minutes.

What I find amazing though is the fact that I Joined the WRAF in 1978 aged just 17 and can reel off my service number with out even thinking about it 🙂

I left the WRAF in 1986 and have never needed to use this number since then.
