A bit of Excitement !

I am not having much luck with the book I am trying to read at the moment, once again I am finding it hard to concentrate long enough to read.

Its been so long since I started the book and I have read so little of it, that  I decided to put it back on my book shelf for another time.

A friend at work told me I needed an exciting book, and she could recommend just the book…….

As they are on offer at work I bought all three.

BUT I wont be starting them just yet as I am going to Pilates tonight 🙂

Front garden

What a difference a year makes…..

One year ago my front garden looked a mess….

I never thought I would be able to get it looking nice, but after laying turf ,planting some shrubs and some general TLC  it now looks like this….

Cannot wait to see what it looks like next year 🙂

A year ago today !

Sally at her new houseA year ago today we moved into our new house that quickly became a home that I love so much.

Some times its a bit of a struggle and worry about how I will pay the bills but so far I have managed.

Andrew is still out of work , its been almost 6 months now and that also causes me stress 🙁

BUT moving house was the best thing I ever did and I am happier and more content here than anywhere else that I have lived.

Thanks to Geoff and all his help, the garden is coming along nicely, its great to potter in the garden, see the changes and watch the plants grow.

Andrew is doing a great job with the vegetable plot too 🙂

All that I need now is my work transfer….. surely it must come soon !

Me time !

After listening to a few of my friends I decided that I should be looking after myself a little better.

Its ok doing all this work but I should have a treat now and then instead of putting all the money away for bills that I worry about ALL the time.

Something I have wanted to do for along time now is go to a Pilates class , I have found a class that looks suitable for me and I should be starting soon 🙂

I also booked myself in for some Acupuncture and Shiatsu massage with Karen Merritt  I really enjoyed the treatment, felt totally relaxed afterwards and my aching legs and bum are feeling much much better.

Karen treated me previously, with acupuncture, for the night sweats I was getting and amazingly it stopped them 🙂

Tomorrow I am having another Acupuncture  treatment with Charlotte from the Crystal Cave it will be interesting to see how my legs feel after this treatment.

I certainly hope to be back to my running next week and will continue to treat myself to a treatment every month.

My Hot stone massage seems to be what everyone wants so its great to trade skills 🙂

What next !

Over the weekend I achieved the last challenge that I had set for myself while Geoff was away walking the South West Coast Path.

The first challenge was to run my 10km

The second was to do a good walk on my own, something I really thought I would hate but ended up loving 🙂

The third was to walk 26 miles, which actually turned out to be a 32 mile day, as Geoff enticed me into town with the promise of dinner, amazingly my legs felt ok this morning, my toes just had a few hot spots.

My Friend ,Gina also did the walk with me and she did amazingly well as it was her first real walk, when you walk and talk the time and miles just disappear !

Fitbit says I did 67455 steps so I should get my 60,000 badge 🙂

Next its 11 days walking along the GR10 , in July, with Geoff and I can hardly wait 🙂

Exploring Norfolk

From Fens and Forests to Coast and Countyside

Norfolk almost has it all…

Norfolk has it all for outdoor enthusiasts – unless, of course, you’re looking for hills and mountains!

From fens and forests, coast and countryside, ‘Nelson’s Country’ boasts spectacular scenery, amazing architecture and a host of historical houses to tempt even the most entrenched couch potato away from the sofa and into the great outdoors.

From the beauty of the Broads – with waterways teeming with wildlife and riverside paths and cycleways just waiting to be explored – to mile upon mile of coastal walks, and ancient towns and villages bursting with history, Norfolk offers something for everyone of all ages and fitness levels.

So dig out those trusty walking boots or walking shoes, pack your waterproofs just in case (this is Norfolk after all!)…and hit the open trail.

Peddars Way and the Norfolk Coast Path

The 93 miles following this old Roman road take in some of the most fabulous countryside on the east coast, with plenty of pubs and tea rooms en route for refreshments, and camping sites and guest houses for overnight stops.

Passing by the magnificent monastic ruins of Binham Priory, the remains of Blakeney Guildhall, Castle Rising at Kings Lynn, and other historical gems such as the Neolithic Grimes Graves and the medieval manor house at Weeting Castle, this is for walking enthusiasts, wildlife lovers and history buffs alike.

Boudicca Way

The Norwich to Diss Boudicca Way is named after the legendary Queen of the Iceni, and passes through the unspoilt countryside of the Waveney Valley.

This 36 mile route from Norwich towards the Suffolk border is another to whet the appetites of those interested in our heritage, with Venta Icenorum Roman town, the hill fort remains at Tasburgh, and Tivetshall St. Mary’s ruined church just some of the offerings en route.

Angles’ Way

This long-distance footpath takes you from Great Yarmouth to Knettishall Heath, and is a past winner of the ‘Best Waterside Walk in Britain’ award.

Connecting up with the Peddars Way and Icknield Way at Knettishall, the Angles’ Way passes by Fritton Lake, Burgh Catle, Oulton Broad, Beccles and Bungay.

Icknield Way

This claims to be the oldest roadway in Britain, running all the way from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire to east Anglia.

Following prehistoric pathways that were already well established when the Romans arrived, the route is steeped in history with many archaeological remains along the chalk ‘spine’ of England, and in Norfolk finishes at Knettishall Heath near Thetford.

The landscape is rich in wildlife and dotted with ancient hedgerows and woodland, making it a nature lover’s – and photographer’s – paradise.

Newmarket Ramblers

Sunday, I thought I would be sensible and stay at home to rest my aching bum 🙁  but then I found out that a friend of mine was down from the cotswolds planning to do the same walk, so how could I resist.

I so rarely see this friend that I have problems remembering his name … I know it begins with a B but I do get so mixed up with his name 🙂

Anyway Off  I went to Ixworth on Sunday morning , to meet up with my friends, then we went onto Combs Ford in Stowmarket where T was leading the walk for the Newmarket Ramblers.

It was a delightful sunny walk and as usual it was a walk full of history and stories, we  even had to hunt for  a grave stone of a famous person buried at  St Andrew’s Church, in the village of Great Finborough, Suffolk.

Then to finish the day  my friend T cooked me dinner as she had read on my blog how I wished  someone would cook me dinner 🙂

A perfect day in perfect company 🙂

My lone walk

I could not bare the thought of moping around the house today, especially as it promised to be a nice day.

So I took myself off for a walk, I dont mean my usual little walks round the cycle paths near my home, I mean a real walk.

Nothing new about that you might think BUT it was something new as I went on my own and walked 15 miles along the Fen Rivers Way to Downham Market, where I then caught a train back to Kings Lynn.

I enjoyed the walk far more than I expected too and it gave me plenty of time to think about things that are bothering me at the moment, mainly a job transfer with Tesco and how I may have agreed in my desperation for a move, to work hours that I really dont want too 🙁

Only time will sort this out and till then I have decided not to worry about it 🙂

I loved the peace and quiet of walking by the river, the only thing that spoilt it was my RUSTLING trousers , that I dont usually hear when walking and talking 🙂
