A proud Mum and a happy Son..
As you can see my son passed his theory driving test, his first attempt at it too.
I was so nervous for him.
As he has matured he has become more confident and I am sure he will do well at what ever he decides to do with his life.
For now he is very happy working in the kitchen of a fish and chip restaurant in Swaffham. Hes worked there since he was 16 and must love it as it takes 2 bus journeys to get there.
Being able to drive will open up a whole new world for him.
Catch of the day
This caught my eye in the newspaper today.
Its believed to be the largest thresher shark ever caught in the world.
It was caught by mistake while fishing for squid and took a fork lift truck to carry it to Newlyn fish market in Cornwall, where it sold for a mere £225 thats just 20p a pound.
Here’s how you might cook it…..
4 shark steaks
bunch of water cress
one onion
8floz of dry white wine
2floz olive oil
juice of two lemons
3tbsps grated ginger
2tblsp balsamic vinegar
chop the onion and water cress and mix well with the remaining ingredients.
pour the marinade over the steaks and leave for between 2 and 24 hours in the fridge.
remove steaks and place under a grill for 4 to 5 mins each side.
serve with rice…
Playing around…..
Geoff deep in concentration… trying to work out how to use his iphone…
one moment he loves it the next he hates it.( a bit like the relationship he has with his mac )
I think its just a case of getting used to it.
Maybe he will blog about what he thinks is good on the iphone and what its downfalls are too.
Will make an interesting read i am sure.
Slow Sloe Gin
My sloes are picked and ready for making my sloe gin… first I will freeze the sloes then thaw them out before pricking the skins with a needle.
It won’t be ready for this Christmas but maybe we can keep it for next …
Craning my neck…
Today this was the sight we were greeted with as we walked into Cambridge town centre.
The new John Lewis store which is due to open on Thursday 8th Nov,was having its last crane dismantled.
To do this it took another two cranes.
An amazing sight……
