What is a Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is the classic oil massage and consists of slow rhythmic manipulation of the muscles

Purpose of Swedish Massage.

The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.

Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable. Swedish massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves themselves at the same time. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management.

Swedish Massage Techniques.

Swedish massage techniques include: long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration, effleurage, and shaking motions.

  • Effleurage: Gliding strokes with the palms, thumbs and/or fingertips.
  • Petrissage: Kneading movements with the hands, thumbs and/or fingers.
  • Friction: Circular pressures with the palms of hands, thumbs and/or fingers.
  • Vibration: Oscillatory movements that shake or vibrate the body.
  • Percussion: Brisk hacking or tapping

Benefits of Swedish Massage.

Swedish massage feels good, is relaxing and invigorating. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation, while promoting health and well being.

It was brilliant Sally, I have had a few massages before, and you were just as good as them, if not better. You would never of thought you were still in training…:-)

I would say to anyone who reads this…if you are stressed, just in need of a pick-me-up, or for any other reason and you live near Sally, in the areas mentioned above…book Sally and have a massage. It was excellent.

  2. Geoff says:

I fully agree with Anne above – excellent massages – at weekends her area extends to Cambridge.

  3. Leslie says:

When I make arrangements to visit Cambridge area next time I fly to England, I will let you know I’m coming so we can book an appointment. I have regular massage therapy on my lower back (and sometimes neck) for the muscle knots due to spinal stenosis. It would be lovely to have you work on me.

Visited Sally today, she was excellent, I was so loose and relaxed that I noticed I had a spring in my step, on the way back to my car. Well done Sally, in those famous words “I’ll be back”

I had got a desire to make my own commerce, but I didn’t have enough of cash to do this. Thank heaven my close colleague recommended to utilize the loans. Thus I took the short term loan and realized my desire.
