Water v Alcohol

My New Years Resolution was to drink more water.

I Drink no where near the recommended 2 litres a day.

Did you watch the program with Lisa Tarbuck in, ‘the truth about food’ they did an experiment with identical twins, and proved that if you eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruit and veg, that you didnt need to drink 2ltrs a day. it can be seen here

Then today I received this information and wonder if I really want to drink more water 🙂

WATER
It has been scientifically proven that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, at the end of the year we will have absorbed more than 1kilo of E coli bacteria found in faeces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop! However, we do not run that risk when drinking Wine (or rum, whiskey, vodka, beer or other liquors) because alcohol has to go through a distillation process of boiling, filtering and fermenting and also alcohol kills the Escherichia coli bacteria.
So …
Water = Poop
Alcohol = Health
It is better to drink wine and talk sh^t than to drink water and be full of sh^t. There is no need to thank me for this valuable information; I am doing it as a public service.

    Hi Sally
    Beer (or rather ale) was originally drunk up until the 19th century (and 20th too) as it was cleaner (and safer) than water as you point out – sounds like it still is.
    Also, the idea of consuming several litres of water a day was lost in translation from the original research as it included the water what you consume through food in fruit and veg too – this is part of the total consumption!

    It’s a bit like the long term use of spectacles was created at the turn of the last century by someone writing a paper on it! (sshhhhh – don’t tell anyone but you can actually improve your eyesight for only a few quid and a few months practice – check out at: http://anthonydavis.wordpress.com/2006/08/08/e-tip-25-men-in-white-coat-syndrome/)
    Keep it a secret OK?

    Salut!

    Well water is still my favourite drink, though I do enjoy a tipple too. I’m glad you like Wife in the North, she is an excellent read.

    Btw, when does Geoff come home, if you read my last post, you will see he has an urgent assignment to see to.

    Great post Sally. Alcohol is really good for you. Those that don’t imbibe die younger than those that do. In fact its the most universal drug in human society. Plus as you rightly point out its more healthy than drinking water. Especially if the water might be contaminated.
    Thank goodness I’m now at airport and leaving the Muslims to their alcohol free states.
