Took myself off to Ixworth today for an 11 mile stroll with the Newmarket Ramblers.
Eight of us turned up in the pouring rain to do this walk, not sure if that makes us dedicated walkers or just plain and simply mad.
It was great to see my friend Tess again and Brian too who had driven all the way from the Cotswold’s.
Debbie did a great job of leading the walk and John was great company we found plenty to c
hat about.He gave me a great idea for another Christmas present for Geoff too.
The walk was a circular one from Ixworth going through Livermore.We stopped for lunch at the church in Great Livermore , the church porch provided much needed shelter from the rain.
After lunch the rain stopped and the skies cleared,so by the time we finished the walk we had all dried out.
Debbie, Tess, Brian John and I then went for tea and cake in the local cafe,where amongst other things we talked about my blog… I know they will be reading this but will they dare leave a comment 🙂
All in all a great day was had by all, even the rain could not spoil it.
John, I agree with what you say about walking it again in the spring or summer.
Despite the wind, rain and wet feet a great walk and great company and of course well led by Debbie. We must attempt this walk again in the spring or summer to appreciate the beautiful countryside. The church is well worth a visit.
The cafe was a great idea, the warmth quickly reddening the faces which hid the embarrassment of eating creamed cakes. Never mind we will walk it off the next time.
That sounds a fine walk. I especially like the tea and cake at the end!
