My Longest Journey…

On June 13th 2009 I will make the longest Journey of my life.

I will fly from Heathrow to Lima in Peru.

That’s a 14hour flight all on my own and I have never even been to Heathrow Aiimagerport.

The reason for this trip Is to meet up with Geoff and spend two weeks in Peru which will include walking the Inca Trail.

Once I have met up with Geoff in Lima we will make our way to Cuzco to meet up with Emily, who is doing some voluntary work there from April 1st.

Now you will be wondering where Geoff is off too.

Well on April 7th he is off on a three month trip which will include going to Costa Rica, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands before he finally meets me in Lima.

My emotions about this trip are all over the place, excited, scared , amazed, shocked, and also sad, sad at the thought of Geoff being away for 3 whole months.

Most of all I am very excited as I know this will be the most amazing trip for both of us.

Once he returns from Les Gets we have 2 months to get the trip planned , which will be a very exciting time.

Sounds like a great adventure with yet more stunning scenery.

Must admit I was thinking along the same lines as Liz – a walk up the aisle, but Peru will be wonderful I am sure.

    Yes I am a very lucky girl….

Reluctant blogger…. a month would have been fantastic but i am not complaining at 2 weeks…

Dad.. not sure you could manage our bags πŸ™‚

Geoff.. my main worry is that you ( for some reason ) wont be there to meet me at Lima…that thought scares me to death πŸ™

Yep its very scary for me too. First time I will have left the mother country for more than 4 weeks πŸ™

Also doing intensive Spanish lessons and living with a Costa Rican family is also scary – will I be like Peter or Svetlana (two of my recent lodgers to the un-initiated),

No need to worry about the flights though, yet to hear of any mugging etc on international flights πŸ™‚

Also I worry about altitude sickness especially with my delicate stomach – could be fun chewing the cocaine leaves though πŸ˜‰

All in all pretty exciting though!

Oh yes, that does sound terrific. Can you not wangle a bit longer than a fortnight? A month would be so much better.

Flying alone is a luxury I envy you! When you set off just remember how much easier and relaxing it is than travelling with three small boys. Then you’ll feel fine.
