A Flatlands walk…..

Two years ago this month I met up with a small group of people I had made contact with through the RA forum.

We met at Graffham water for our very first walk, since then we have been meeting up every two or three months.

We always post our walk on the RA forum and have had many people join us for the occasional walk.

Infact this is how I met Geoff, Caroline and Ellee they came to a walk we were doing from Castle Acre.

Little did I know then how much my life was about to change 🙂

This Sunday we shall be meeting at Fulbourn to celebrate our anniversary with a nice 14 mile walk.

If anyone would like to join us your more than welcome too.

Not Wanted….but lucky lucky me !!

I thought I would spend Easter with my boys but they did not want me.

Luckily for me someone else does want me.

Even Better we are off to Wales to Join Philip at his cottage and do some walking….

Heel is mending nice, as you can see.

I have new Boots to try out and a new ruc-sac too

So another great week-end in store for me.

Watch this space for blogs on walks , how my heel copes and what I think to my new boots

Hills..Hills Hills…..

Well it looks like I may finally get to see some Hills at the week-end, so please pray for good weather.

Going to Rockingham in Northamptonshire first, to do a 17 mile walk with friends then we are off to Hope in Derbyshire.

Planned walk is up Win Hill along Kinder and then either down Jacobs ladder or along Mam Tor / Lose Hill down to Hope

Route distance 29.6km , total ascent 1089 m, total decent 1088m so will be just a bit different to my usually flat Norfolk walking.

This will be my first real walk in training for going to Corsica in June to do the GR20, going to French Alps in April and May for long week-ends for training too………. I am beginning to get very very excited.

How will I ever sleep between now and the week-end  🙂

Lycian Way

The Lycian way is a long distance walk in Turkey. While I was in Cambridge Geoff and I met up with Clare and Dave who did the walk In April and May 2006. We are trying to decide if it would be a good training walk for the GR20. They certainly had lots of interesting information and their enthusiasm for the walk was very catching .our plan would be to fly to Antalya airport, then use the bus and just walk a few sections  but at the moment we are not 100% sure this will be our training walk

CORSICA GR20

Well I posted on the RA forum that I wanted a walking holiday next year but I never expected to get the opportunity to walk in Corsica.if all goes to plan I hope to do this walk in June 07. Going to have to do a lot of training because although I walk a lot and can do 20 mile walks, I’m not used to the hills or walking on consecutive days. Hope to have a training week ,in March, in the hills somewhere to see just how fit or unfit I am. I had a nice E-mail from Judy off the RA forum today offering words of encouragement, and i think that has made me more determined to do this walk. Judy herself is doing a fantastic walk soon, which will take her approx 8 month to complete , details can be found a www.alpinechallenge.info and i wish her lots of luck in her travels.
