Less clutter

I was very lucky to get an Apple tv for my birthday from Geoff…

It now means I never need to buy a DVD again and can watch everything through iTunes, on my TV.

So from now on all my books will be on my Kindle, all my music on my ipod and all my films will be in iTunes.

Unfortunately my mac book, although only bought in 2008, is too old to use the mirroring facility on the Apple tv which was a huge disappointment and another reason to save for an ipad !

Luckily I can use iPlayer Automator to download itv programmes into iTunes.

All these gadgets mean LESS CLUTER !

Ironically another gift was a music c/d for when I use my cross trainer, which has now been copied to iTunes and put onto my ipod.

Les Gets

Our trip to Les Gets was a bit of a wash out, it rained 8 days out of the 10 🙁 but  we did manage 2 fabulous walks before the rain came !

Views of Mont Blanc

The rest of our time was not wasted, I caught up with all my tv watching, finished reading my book and helped Geoff where I could with the DIY

The kitchen in the apartment now has a new sink, tap and work surface, there are also new red curtains which I lovingly took up by hand 🙂

We visited friends, ate too much highly calorific food and drank too much lovely wine but then it was a holiday 🙂

Quality Time

Before Geoff goes off on his trip to New Zealand I get to spend some quality time with him 🙂

Tomorrow we catch the train to St Ives,in Cornwall, where we shall spend some time walking and have a night out at the beautiful Minack Theatre.

Then its back to work for 3 days before we head off to Leominster for a weekend of walking with the Cambridge Rambling Club

We leave the best to last as we then head off to the mountains and Geoff’s apartment in  Les Gets, where we shall rest, walk and catch up with friends Kay and Anthony

Then its home and back to a full week of massage clients 🙂

Rekindling my love of reading…

For many years I have been struggling to read, mainly because I just could not concentrate 🙁

Then just before our trip to the Pyrenees Geoff bought me a Kindle, which I just love.

So thanks to my Kindle and Mr Grey I have rekindled my love of reading 🙂

I have read 4 books since July which is more books than I have read for years.

The 5th book has been started, it was recommended by Martin Black,  its called The Camino Diaries and I am loving it.

You know what I will be doing now on our long train journey to St Ives on Friday !

Like mother, Like daughter

Not sure if I have mentioned this before but Geoff’s daughter in law makes the most fantastic unique crystal jewellery.

I am very lucky to own 2 beautiful pieces of her work, both necklaces, one is made from stones bought back from our China travels,so holds great memories for me .

Mia has a shop on Etsy called Spirit Carrier and its well worth taking a look 🙂

Recently I became the owner of another beautiful piece, a bracelet this time, but this was not made by Mia but by her 7 year old daughter.

As you can see from the photo its beautiful and it certainly looks
that the saying “Like mother, like daughter” is very true  :-).

A day to remember

There isn’t much that will tear me away from my Sunday walking BUT this Sunday I gladly gave up a days walking to go and have lunch with a blogging friend visiting from Vancover.

I know Leslie through her blog The Pedalogue  and had arranged to meet her and her travelling friend Cathy, on September 2nd, many months ago when she was just arranging her trip to England.

We met in Ely at The Peacock tea rooms, which is a good example of a traditional english tea room, it was great that Ellee could join us too.

We had a lovely lunch,Leslie and I both choose the Salmon salad followed by Carrot cake, the weather stayed fine and the chat just flowed and flowed 🙂

It was a real shame that Anne had other arrangements so could not join us, but hopefully they will meet later this week.

Happy Garden

I love Sunflowers

So this year for the first time ever, as my garden gets lots of sun, we decided to try growing some.

We now have about seven sunflowers that are at least eleven foot tall and yesterday the first one came into flower 🙂

Making it a very Happy Garden 🙂

It’s official …..

I have a new contract with Tesco and a new job too 🙂

I get to keep my 18 hours a week but my hours change slightly but nothing too drastic.

I still work the same days but my hours are now 10.30am till 5pm, 1.30 till 8pm and 10am till 4.30 pm

So I am now working on the check outs, a job I have avoided for 11 years (yes thats how long I have worked for Tesco )

I hated the thought of having to sit for 6 hours but now that I can walk to and from work its not quite so bad 🙂

The main things I like about the checkouts is that I am constantly busy so the the time goes quick, I get to chat all day long, I dont come home smelling of fish and the best thing of all is that for the first time in 10 years I am warm at work 🙂

Today was my first 1.30 till 8pm shift I was a little worried about it but it was actually fine and I think I am going to enjoy my new job and hours very much.

My life is quite perfect at the moment…..

Just one thing would make me happier and that’s if my boys could  sort themselves out and get jobs !
