Relaxing….

Finally arrived in Les Gets about 11pm after a delayed flight.les gets 001

So today has been a relaxing day.

We went up Mount Chery on the chair lift with the intension of walking back down, but by the time we had arrived at the top it had clouded over and we had a downpour of rain with thunder and lightening.

So we retired to the Belvedere for lunch and refreshments.

After 2 les gets 006bottles of wine and a delicious lunch it was still raining but lucky for us they started the chair lift up to take us back down.

The weather is now clearing and I am hoping to get up to the lake soon for a swim because as you know I  don’t do relaxing for very long  🙂

We have talked about trying some mountain biking while we are here, but only on the easy paths …  it sounds like fun to me !!

Summery of Holiday

I really don’t know why I skied so much better this year than last.

I was more confident and not so scared  but I think the real reason was the snow… it was so much better this year, not so icy and hard.

So home with no bruises  🙂  unlike last year.

If I am lucky enough to go next year I will treat myself to a nice orange ski jacketDSCF1819 as I just love the nice bright colors.

I did intend to wear my red walking jacket but the twice I went out in it I got mistaken for a ski rep as they wore Red !!!

Boys enjoyed the snowboarding ,the lesson was well worth the money but I was amazed at how tired they got.

Too much time sat in their room’s playing games on x box and PC and not enough exercise.

Maybe time to get Matthew down the Gym 🙂 especially if he’s going to join the Army.

Left Geoff in Les Gets till 15th Feb so lets hope he gets some more snow as they need it now  🙁  especially for when Mark and Emily go out.

Roasting in the snow….

We woke to brilliant sunshine on our last skiing day in Les Gets.

So we decided to spend our last hours skiing/snowboarding on the red runs of Mont Chery .DSCF1789

I managed to ski from top to bottom with no falls , although I don’t pretend that I go very fast ,its still a great achievement for me.

It was so hot I swear you could have sun bathed in your bikini….

We had a great time although the boys were very tired by the end of the day.

Geoff treated me to a meal out on our last night together, a treat for valentines as he will still be away. It was great to spend some time alone with him.

We both had a Tartiflette a typical french dish, recipe can be found here.

We then went for a drink at the Golden Lion… a pub ran by Jim which had just opened that week-end 🙂

A very enjoyable evening and a great way to end my holiday.

Bum Boarding….

Tonight after we had all been out for a very nice meal we sent the boys off bum boarding…..

If your not sure what that is …it’s where you slide down the snow sat on a plastic seat shaped like your bum, and you can go very very fast.

As you can imagine they had a lot of fun, some good crashes and came home wet through.

Thankfully we only had 2 bum boards so Geoff and I escaped having a go…  but there is always tomorrow  🙂

Achieving my Goals……

Well today was the day I got from the top all the way to the bottom in one go and what a great feeling it was too.

I seem to like the blue run’s as I still like the ski run to be nice and wide.

I lost count on how many blue run’s we did or on how many chair lifts we usDSCF1763ed,but we had a great day.

I ended the day by skiing all the way back down into the village and what a confidence booster that was.

I am now worn out as you don’t get much of a rest when you don’t keep falling over  🙂

Photo of the day was Geoff on his snowboard…..
